Two national standards for additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, take effect on November 1, 2026. One addresses the measurement of harmful substances during material extrusion printing; the other establishes definitions and exchange requirements for additive manufacturing datasets.
GB/T 47564-2026, Determination of Harmful Substances in the Material Extrusion Printing Process for Additive Manufacturing, standardizes testing methods for harmful substances produced during the process. GB/T 47568-2026, Definition and Exchange of Additive Manufacturing Datasets, provides a framework for defining and exchanging datasets.

The standards address different points in the manufacturing workflow. The first provides a basis for assessing harmful substances associated with material extrusion, while the second provides a common foundation for communicating production-related data. For organizations working across both areas, the practical implications may arise in testing procedures and the way datasets are defined and shared.
The standards provide foundational support for environmental compliance and data interoperability, but their effect on specific operations will depend on the detailed provisions and how they are applied.
